Leading the RAIL Initiative, which examines how university students and instructors understand, evaluate, and use generative artificial intelligence in academic settings. The project investigates students’ ability to verify AI-generated information, recognize bias and fabricated content, protect personal and confidential data, and disclose AI assistance appropriately. It combines surveys, interviews, classroom observations, and learning-design research to develop practical AI literacy resources that support critical thinking, ethical decision-making, and responsible participation in AI-rich learning environments.

Leading the A3I Project, which explores how university assessment can be redesigned in response to the widespread availability of generative AI. The project evaluates approaches including oral explanation, reflective commentary, iterative drafting, authentic problem-solving, peer feedback, and process documentation. Rather than relying primarily on AI detection, A3I focuses on making student thinking and learning more visible. The project aims to produce evidence-informed assessment models that strengthen academic integrity while evaluating judgment, application, creativity, and intellectual development.

Leading the AITPL Collaborative, which investigates how educators develop the knowledge, confidence, and professional judgment needed to integrate artificial intelligence into their teaching. The research examines AI-supported lesson planning, formative feedback, differentiated instruction, course design, and student support, while addressing concerns related to accuracy, privacy, accessibility, bias, and institutional policy. The collaborative works with educators to design and evaluate professional learning resources that support pedagogically meaningful, transparent, and responsible uses of AI.
